Carmen at Burg Gars

Another Covid victim: The Austrian Open Air Festival Oper Burg Gars. Bizet’s “Carmen” was originally planned for 2020 and had to be postponed for two long years; but the walls of this mediæval castle did not mind such a small delay — merely a blink of an eye for towers nigh on a thousand years old.

Staged by Dominik Wilgenbus and with the musical direction of Johannes Wildner, this “Carmen” will see Spanish tenor Oscar Marín in his role debut as Don José.
