First Recording: Autumn Symphony by Joseph Marx

Johannes Wildner conducts the first recording of “Eine Herbstsymphonie” by Joseph Marx
For the first time ever the “Autumn Symphony” by Joseph Marx, a hugely cast symphonic work, was recorded in full length. This recording with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra under Johannes Wildner’s baton has now been released in the cpo label.

The magnificent Graz premiere of Joseph Marx’s Herbstsymphonie (Autumn Symphony) was held on 28 September 1922 under Clemens Krauss. It was a great triumph for Marx, and when Krauss selected this work for a concert program in Vienna in late May of the following year, the public went wild. Now you can finally listen to this exceptional symphony.
